Twitter me this...

I know that mostly we use the word twitter when talking about being twitterpated with a boy or a man, but these days the word twitter has a whole new meaning. We can now, thanks to Twitter, follow all our favorite celebrities all the time. They tweet (the act of posting on twitter) really exciting and incredibly interesting things in 140 characters or less, such as:
"In the year 2011...TV will have over 30 Channels! Some, in other languages! How amazing will THAT be! Hanx" Tom Hanks
"Joy Behar (JoyVBehar): Hugh Hefner engaged at 84. Good for Hef. He's finally at an age where he can walk down the street in a robe & pajamas & no one questions it." Joy Behar
"Mindy Kaling (mindykaling): Small dredlock forming at back of head, mon! let it live or snip it out?" Mindy Kaling

I think Twitter's success is dependent on our love of pop culture and that Twitter allows us to know what is happening to celebrities as it is happening, and of course, who doesn't want to give someone some advice on their dredlock. Snip it out, dreds are so 90's.
Twitter is not only for celebrities, the average folks can use it too, but with far less followers. A person can follow a Twitter account and have all tweets sent to their phone (preferably a droid or iphone). It really allows us to focus our attention where it needs to be, clearly.
